Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 11, 2026
This policy explains how Island Legal Technologies, Inc. ("ILT," "we") collects and uses information in connection with the JurisLit platform (the "Service"). It covers two very different kinds of information, and we treat them differently:
- Account information — details about you and your firm that we collect directly.
- Customer content — the litigation materials your firm uploads to the Service. Your firm owns and controls this content; we process it only on your firm's behalf and only to provide the Service.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: firm/organization name, your name, username, email address, role, and billing contact details.
- Customer content: documents, emails, transcripts, exhibits, coding, tags, and other materials your firm uploads or creates in its cases.
- Usage and log data: sign-ins, actions taken in the Service (retained in per-account activity logs your firm's administrators can view), IP addresses, browser type, and diagnostic information — including console output you choose to include with an in-app bug report.
- Cookies: a single session cookie used to keep you signed in. We use no advertising cookies or cross-site trackers.
2. How We Use Information
- To provide, secure, and support the Service — including authentication, per-firm data isolation, and abuse prevention.
- To send transactional email: account setup, team invitations, password resets, trial and billing notices, and responses to your support requests. We do not send marketing email to Service users without consent.
- To diagnose problems you report and monitor Service health.
- To comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not sell personal information or customer content, and we do not use customer content to train machine-learning models.
3. Customer Content and Confidentiality
Litigation materials are frequently confidential, privileged, or subject to protective orders. We treat all customer content as confidential: our personnel do not access it except to operate the Service, to provide support your firm requests, or as required by law. Each firm's content is logically isolated from every other firm's, and access within your firm is controlled by the permission groups your administrators configure.
4. Service Providers (Subprocessors)
We use a small set of infrastructure providers to run the Service:
| Provider | Purpose | Location |
| Amazon Web Services | Hosting, database, file storage, and email delivery | United States (us-east-1) |
| Stripe (when card billing launches) | Payment processing — card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers | United States |
| Anthropic (only if your firm enables AI features) | Optional AI-assisted analysis, under terms that prohibit training on your content | United States |
These providers process information solely to supply their services to us and are bound by their own security and confidentiality obligations. We will update this table as providers change.
5. Security
- All traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS).
- Stored data is protected with industry-standard controls, per-firm tenancy isolation enforced by the application, and passwords stored only as salted one-way hashes.
- Optional two-factor authentication is available on every account, and firm administrators can review sign-in and activity logs for their own users.
No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your information, we will notify affected customers without undue delay.
6. Retention and Deletion
- Account information is retained while your account is active and as needed for legal and accounting purposes afterward.
- Customer content is retained while your firm's subscription or trial is active, and for 30 days after termination so you can re-subscribe or export, after which it is scheduled for deletion from active systems (backups rotate out in the ordinary course).
- Your firm's administrators can delete cases and users at any time from within the Service.
7. Your Choices and Rights
- You can view and update your account details in the Service, and export your firm's data using the built-in export features.
- Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information. Contact us at the address below and we will respond as required by applicable law.
- For content your firm uploaded about parties in a matter, requests should be directed to that firm — under data-protection laws it acts as the controller of its case materials, and we act on its instructions.
8. Children
The Service is a professional tool for legal work and is not directed to anyone under 18.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email or in the Service before they take effect, with the "Last updated" date revised above.
